What Floats Your Boat?

Celebration of Green Space, July 14th & 15th 2012
 Recycle Boat Race: Sunday July 15th. Race Start: 11am 
(Boats must be present by 10 am for judging)

The recycle boat challenge is fun.  Build a boat out of recyclable or compostable material and race it across Lily Lake.  Your whole team can get on the boat, or just send one strong willed member - whatever Floats Your Boat, works!  Are you up for the challenge?  Get a group together, and have fun making your boat!  Look at the photos below for inspiration. Judging is at 10am on Sunday July 15. Race Time is 11am.
  Boats will launch from the north beach on Lily Lake, across from the Interpretive Centre.
Boats will be judged on the following:

  1. Time lapsed to travel across the lake.
  2. Originality / creativity of the boat
  3. Recyclability. All material must meet the criteria of acceptable recyclable or compostable material including size constraints (i.e. they must fit into the blue bins or compost cart). For a complete list visit www.FundyRecycles.com Refundable beverage containers are accepted as well. Points will be deducted for any material that is not recyclable or compostable.
  4. All crew members must be 18 years of age or older, wear a personal floatation device and foot protection.
  5. The watercraft must be propelled by human or sail power only. Crew must propel their boat from inside or on top of the craft.
  6. Deadline to enter is July 6th, 2012.
  7. Entries will be capped at 20 boats.

You have two ways to get rid of your old computer and household hazardous waste.

Every Saturday at Crane Mountain Landfill or at a Community Round Up Event in October.

Old computers can now be recycled at our Household Hazardous Waste Facility at Crane Mountain Landfill every Saturday from 8am to 12 noon. If you have more than 5 computers, please contact us at 738-1212 directly.
 A fee of $5.00 per system applies for household computers, business computers $6.50/system

Community Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Round Up events:

From Friday October 19th, to Saturday October 27 2012 we will be hosting round up events for both Household Hazardous Waste and Computers in your community.   We will have various locations in Saint John, Rothesay/Quispamsis, Hampton, St. Martins and a Local Service District. Check back for locations and dates.

Special Events for Youth Groups

We offer learning events for youth groups at Crane Mountain Landfill’s Interpretive Centre. Participants will learn about composting and recycling through activities, interactive displays, and more.

All groups must register in advance.
