Compost, Recycle and Garbage
Welcome to the Fundy Region!
The Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission is responsible for solid waste disposal and diversion in the Greater Saint John area, including Crane Mountain Landfill. We are also responsible for the recycling and compost programs.
1. Composting: We provide each property with a large green compost cart as well as a small green kitchen bin. If your property does not have a cart or kitchen bin, or if it needs repair, please fill out this form, or phone 738-1212. Find out what goes in your compost cart. The community’s dedication to composting has its rewards. Crane Mountain’s Grade A finished compost can be used on lawns and flower gardens, returning valuable nutrients to the soil.

2. Recycling: The Commission provides Recycling Depots around the region, where you can leave your corrugated cardboard, paper & boxboard, and plastic, metal and milk containers in the proper blue bin. The material you recycle in the blue bins is then baled and sold directly to market.
3. Collection of your garbage and compost is handled by your municipality or local service district, except in Quispamsis and Grand Bay-Westfield where residents must contact a private waste hauler.
Find the Waste Hauler in your area.
4. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any harmful substance that is considered corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive, such as old paint, used oil, or batteries. Please do not dispose of any hazardous items in your regular garbage or down the drain. Bring them to our facility on Saturdays between 8am- 12 noon, and we will ensure they are handled correctly.
If you have a question not answered on our website, please contact the Hotline at hotline@fundyrecycles.com or 738-1212. Together, we can find a better way of dealing with our waste.
